The 11th Sri Lanka Economic Research Conference (SLERC 2022)

The 11th Sri Lanka Economic Research Conference (SLERC 2022) of the Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists (SLFUE) was gloriously had been held at Nalliah Auditorium, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, on 3rd February 2023, with the theme of "Contemporary Controversies and Dilemmas in the Economy of Sri Lanka." The Department of Economics, Discipline of Economics, and Department of Agricultural Economics, Eastern University, Sri Lanka jointly organised the conference. 

Prof. V. Kanagasingam, Vice Chancellor, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, was the chief guest of the conference. The guest of honour was Prof. A. Rameez, Vice Chancellor of South Eastern University, Sri Lanka. In addition, Economists from eleven Sri Lankan Universities coloured the SLERC 2022 inaugural event. Dr. S. Jeyarajah, Chairman of the SLERC 2022 welcomed all the delicate to the conference. The eminent Professor Santa Devarajan from Georgetown University, United States delivered the conference keynote speech titled “How to make government accountable, empower the poor, and limit elite capture in Sri Lanka". 

The proceedings of the SLERC 2022 launched by Prof. V. Kanagasingam, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Sri Lanka while Sri Lanka Journal of Economics Research (SLJER) Vol. 10 (2), launched by Prof. A. Rameez, Vice Chancellor of South Eastern University. Dr. Jeyapraba Suresh, the existing SLFUE chair, officially transferred the SLFUE Chair 2023 to Prof. MMA Mustafa, South Eastern University, Sri Lanka. Mrs. S.Sarojini Maheswaranathan, Secretary to SLERC 2022 delivered a vote of thanks. After the official opening, technical sessions were started with distinguished panellists and 38 papers were presented in various tracks.
